Railfan Locations

Here are some great places to go and see trains.

Bedell

Bedell, Ontario is just south of Kemptville, Ontario just west of Highway 416. The CP mainline from Montreal to Toronto passes through this locoation and is relatively easy to get to. You can sit on the hill just east of the level crossing and see the trains easily. There is a hot box 5 miles to the east so your scanner will give you warning so that you have enough to take a photo. Remember — stay off the tracks!

Coteau Junction

At Coteau Junction, you can stand at the VIA station and see plenty of action. Remember — stay off the tracks!

Smiths Falls Station

Smiths Falls is the crew change location between the Winchester sub (Montreal to the Falls) and the Belleville sub (The Falls to Toronto). Smiths Falls normally sees many trains each day with the bulk passing through early in the morning and late in the evening. The station is also a VIA station.
