National Museum of Science and Technology

Smiths Falls Railway Museum

The Smiths Falls Railway Museum, located on William Street in Smiths Falls, Ontario, is housed in the restored Canadian Northern station. The museum offers a wide variety of displays and activities for all ages. There is an admission charge. The museum is open daily 10 am to 4:30 pm, May through October. New members are welcome. The town of Smiths Falls, about a hour drive south-west of Ottawa, is accessible by Highways 15, 29 and 43. See their website at www.sfrmeo.ca

Steam Train de Hull

Steam Train de Hull, Chelsea et Wakefield - Tourist train from Hull, Quebec to Wakefield Quebec along the shore of the picturesque Gatineau River.

Bedell

Bedell, Ontario is just south of Kemptville, Ontario just west of Highway 416. The CP mainline from Montreal to Toronto passes through this locoation and is relatively easy to get to.  You can sit on the hill just east of the level crossing and see the trains easily.  There is a hot box 5 miles to the east so your scanner will give you warning so that you have enough to take a photo.  Remember!  Stay off the tracks.

Coteau Junction

At Couteau Junction, you can stand at the VIA station and see plenty of action.  Remember!   Stay off the tracks.

Smiths Falls Station

Smiths Falls it the crew change location between the Winchester sub (Montreal to the Falls) and the Belleville sub (The Falls to Toronto). With Ottawa Valley RailLink (soon to be named Ottawa Valley Railway) on the scene, you can see these brightly coloured units from time to time also.Smiths Falls normally sees many trains each day with the bulk passing through early in the morning and late in the evening. The station is also a VIA station.
